who i am

I am a lover of many things

I value simplicity, creativity, compassion, and presence. We are all here to do different things and being true to ourselves is the most sacred part.

my bio

Nice to meet you - or enchante! I’m Laura, and my last name is pronounced mar-so-lay, like the French word for the sun - “soleil.” My last name is French, and I do speak some French. I would say my language level is about beginner-to-intermediate level. I love the French language; my favorite word in French is today: aujourd’hui.

A little more about who I am… I believe mindset is everything. I like to return “home” by always practicing having a “beginner’s mind,” a Zen concept that embraces a spirit of openness, newness, and curiosity that truly works to dismantle the power that is the ego and the illusion of being an authority. We always have the ego; it’s an undeniable presence, but cultivating a healthy relationship with one’s ego is key. Less ego, more peace.

I embrace discovery, learning, and curiosity. I am invested in my own self-reflection, presence, and education. For me, education is listening. Trusting your intuition happens and strengthens the more we allow space for listening. And, to me, that means being disciplined about the quality of our attention and building/sustaining our relationship with what brings us joy.

I have always believed that I am here to have fun (as corny as it sounds, I mean it). Making art, writing, singing, dancing - creativity and freedom and healing - it’s all connected for me. I believe that we can find the joy and the fun through the connection, through the resilience, through the humor, through the telling.

In my personal life experience, some of my biggest life transitions were my greatest teaching moments. Telling your story, whether to a therapist or through your own art, is not only revelatory and healing; to me, it is essential, transformative, and as necessary to our beings as drinking water.

I am also a comedy nerd/lover and dabbled in the comedy scene (some open mics, sketch writing, improv) when I lived in Chicago. I miss Chicago, and I am fairly new to coastal South Carolina, but I will make it my mission to travel back periodically to visit my fave peeps, spots, and scenes. I feel I need to be as close as possible to the sea. We need to say hi a lot. But, I miss winter and many things that are “Chicago.” Change is the only constant in life, and Chicago was and always is a good idea.

I knew I wanted to become a psychotherapist when I intuitively realized, as I was also falling more in love with astrology, that sitting and holding space for others in deep, contemplative, and healing ways is not just something I want to do; it feels natural and necessary to my soul. My yoga teaching inspired this path, I think, on a deep soul level.

And, developing my relationship with astrology has been uniquely connected to my relationship with developing my psychic sensitivity. We are of this earth, and we are also souls having an interesting human experience. Connecting and integrating it all takes some spiritual focus and a little bit of love. Astrology is magic. And I love it. Deeply. I continue to embrace the way my spiritual evolution is unfolding. It amazes and thrills me.

I am so grateful and excited to integrate astrology, yoga, and creative expression of many forms as part of this methodology, which I like to call the healing arts.

Please book your free consultation call through my psychotherapy website here if you are seeking therapy. Or, book your astrology appointment here. I will also be teaching yoga locally soon, and new art will also be coming soon. I can’t wait to meet you and support you on your path.

Lastly, I deeply value nature, the ocean, music, laughter, singing, fresh air, birdsong, winter, coffee, coffee mugs, deep chitchats, and a good road trip. Winter is my favorite season and snow is my favorite form of magic. Merci beaucoup for reading and visiting!

My original “biz mantra” was “celebrate today, it’s never too late to begin.” I still hold that mantra close to my heart.

Today, my mantra is “speak the stars” because we are here to be, see, connect, embody, evolve, and transcend and share our unique gifts and stories and experiences… we are all souls who are working to be a steward of our gifts, as Jane Kenyon said.

mission statement

It is my humble and grateful honor to do my best to bring light, humor, warmth, support, creativity, and flow into the spaces where I co-create with the beings that want to flow and delight in their healing process of self-discovery, reflection, and movement. All are welcome.

I believe I am here to bring art and light and offerings that help nurture, heal, and inspire… I vow to practice engaging in continued self-study and experiential learning to give my highest self and highest good with love and light and joy.
